Production Manager/Assistant Merchandise Manager (Clothing Imports & Local) – Johannesburg

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Production Manager/Assistant Merchandise Manager to join a dynamic Apparel business. We’re looking for an energetic, highly organised professional with 5+ years’ experience in Clothing Manufacturing, Sourcing, Merchandising and Production, including both local and imports production. Previous team leadership or management experience is essential. SA CITIZENS ONLY.

Responsibilities

• Manage local and import clothing production across multiple product categories.
• Drive critical path timelines from development through to delivery.
• Co-ordinate fabric, trims and raw material procurement.
• Oversee product development from concept to production.
• Manage supplier communication, quality assurance and sampling.
• Co-ordinate shipping schedules and freight forwarders.
• Negotiate pricing and ensure profitability targets are achieved.
• Build strong relationships with Buyers, Designers, suppliers and factories.

Requirements

Qualifications: Related Degree/Diploma.
Experience: 5+ years experience in a Clothing Manufacturing/Imports environment.
Additional: • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills. • Excellent planning, organisational and communication abilities. • Proven supplier negotiation and relationship management experience. • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams. • Experience in Denim, Bottoms or Apparel Manufacturing will be advantageous.
